Korn Ferry: The Importance of Having a Purpose

Gary Burnison, Korn Ferry’s Chief Executive Office, has published a piece on the importance of an organization having a purpose. Burnison cites Korn Ferry studies showing that consumer companies that encourage their employees to focus around that company’s purpose grow at almost triple the rate of the norm as well as a large percentage increase in employees who say they are in engaged in their work.

Burnison also points out that companies with a clearly defined purpose and who lead their companies with this mission in mind are also appealing to millennials. With the baby boomer generation nearing retirement age, it’s important to the future of organizations to begin setting their sights on the next generation of leaders. Defining and fully representing a company’s culture will help not only generate business, but also attract needed young talent.
