Korn Ferry: Finding Leaders for Socially Conscious Companies

A recent report by Korn Ferry finds socially conscious companies are on the rise in the consumer sector. These companies uphold both their dedication of profit and purpose, and their commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility. This trend is one that includes successful companies such as Warby Parker, Method products, and TOMS shoes. These companies are gaining success because the consumer and the company’s employees strongly align with the brand.

These fast growing socially conscious companies must attract commercially savvy leaders while staying true to their mission. To make leadership appointments more effective, Korn Ferry recommends considering four dimensions:

  1. Competencies- such as resourcefulness, courage or decision quality.
  2. Experience- choosing leading a turnaround over a senior vice president title.
  3. Traits- personality traits relevant to the social conscious organization.
  4. Drivers- values that influenced a person’s given career path.
