Korn Ferry looks into the disparity between a growing United States economy and the many places a high unemployment rate is still at a standstill. The divide seems to come between urban and rural America, with cities thriving, but smaller towns having a hard time bouncing back from the 2008 financial crisis.
One theory as to the regional gap offered in the article looks at the placement of talent. While technology has made it possible for businesses to set up offices in rural spaces, most companies have still remained in urban areas, due to the talent for specific large industries (such as finance and technology) not moving from cities.
