Korn Ferry: 2015 Compensation & Career Trends for German Investor Relation Executives
Korn Ferry surveyed practitioners in the investor relations field with the cooperation of the IR Club, one of the largest associations of investor relation professionals in Europe. The survey found publically listed companies highly value IR expertise and the advantage IR offers to business leaders.
The report found investor relations to be an entry point into general business for those with banking experience or making a change in their career path. The majority came from corporations and banking, some had been consultants, brokers, or analysts. Other investor relation professionals came from other corporate functions including strategy, marketing, communications, operations, or finance.
The demand for IR professionals is high. The strong demand is met with higher salaries. Almost 27% of those surveyed were paid a base salary of above €100,000. However a gender pay gap is pronounced among IR executives. Entry- and mid-level roles in IR are held almost equally by men and women, but only 28% of those in leadership IR positions are women, and they earn substantially less than their male peers.
