Russell Reynolds Associates: What Is It Really Like as a Female Board Member?

A Russell Reynolds Associates study on diversity in Fortune 500 boards, found only 11% of the seats were occupied by women. To demystify the entry into boardrooms and understand the numbers, Russell Reynolds Associates interviewed women who currently serve on public company boards. The interviewees provide insight into how women can improve their chance of board nominations and increase their impact once they join a board.

• Robyn Denholm- CFO and COO at Juniper Networks and serves on the board of Tesla Motors
• Elisha Finney- CFO of Varian Medical Systems and serves on the board of Altera Corporation
• Mercedes Johnson- Retired CFO of Avago Technologies and serves on the board of Intersil, Juniper Networks, Micron Tehcnology and Teradyne
• Laura Wright- Retired CFO of Southwest Airlines, serves as trustee of Pebblebrook Hotel Trust, and on the board of CMS Energy and TE Connectivity
